What happens if you don't pay fines in Dubai

In 2023, Dubai tightened its traffic regulations and some fines can now reach several thousand dirhams (the official currency of the UAE). For example, exceeding the speed limit by more than 60 km/h will result in a fine of 3,000 dirhams (about $820). After this period, the offender will be added to the list of debtors and may be banned from entering Dubai or arrested on arrival until the situation is resolved. Tourists can check fines online at the official Dubai Police website and pay them remotely, even if they have already left the country.

In the event of a dispute over fines, it is advisable to keep all documents relating to the car rental and to contact the car rental company and the Dubai authorities immediately to resolve the matter.
