How much does it cost to travel on the toll roads in Dubai?

In all emirates, there are toll roads with payment points (SALIK). All Brooklands rental cars are equipped with Salik chips, allowing seamless travel on toll roads. The toll fee is automatically charged when your car is detected on a toll road camera. You can settle all Salik toll charges upon returning the car to Brooklands.

Toll Rates on Dubai’s Toll Roads

The cost of a single pass through a Salik toll gate is 4 AED (approximately $1.10). This amount is automatically deducted from your Salik account each time you pass through a toll point.

Fines for Non-Payment of Toll Charges

If there are insufficient funds in your Salik account, a fine of 100 AED (around $27) is charged for each pass through a toll gate. Therefore, it’s crucial to top up your Salik account promptly and maintain an adequate balance.

How to Top Up Your Salik Account

There are several ways to recharge your Salik account:

— Online through the Salik website or mobile app

— Via ATMs and payment kiosks

— At post offices, gas stations, and some retail stores

— By visiting a Salik customer service center

The minimum top-up amount is 50 AED (about $13.60). It’s advisable to recharge your account in advance and maintain a sufficient balance to avoid fines.

We recommend installing the RTA Smart Drive navigation app on your smartphone, which has an option for planning routes using toll-free roads. The app is available on the App Store and Google Play.
